Over the weekend, my uncle showed me his gun collection. He's got a lot of very nice selection of turn-of-the-last-century rifles, including about 3 Stevens Ideals, a Spencer Repeater, and an old sporterized Mauser etc. He's got a shotgun that belonged to his Uncle, and a pump action .22 that I didn't identify that belonged to my Grandpa. I was kind of overwhelmed, and didn't get a chance to scrutinize any of them. He's recently gotten caught up in the gun-buying panic of '09 and purchased two new Ruger Mini-14s. The NRA special, and the new Tactical model. They're nice, but they're not AR15s. I prepared for '09, and did all my gun buying last year when stuff was available.



I recently got a Curio & Relic Firearms license, which allows me to have Curio & Relic firearms shipped directly to me if I were to order one from an online vendor, or win one at auction. I primarily got it because I like mil-surp rifles. But I ought to start looking at some Americana pieces as well. It might be kind of fun to have a Stevens ideal, or Spencer Repeater. Oh, and he has a pre-'64 Winchester Mod 94 in .30-30. That's a gem.

Beer is wonderful. The piss-water that you can get in the grocery stores here in Utah is terrible.

I'm going to start homebrewing. I've ordered this:



I also ordered 48 bottles and a recipe kit for an Oktoberfest Ale. I'm reserving the 18th for boiling up a batch of wort!

Oh yeah!

My wife got Jerzy as a puppy 14 years ago. I came into her life seven years ago. It was very sad all around. She was a sweet little dog and we'll miss her.

Today is a great day for law-abiding gun owners in the U.S. of A.

This is an Evil Black Rifle. It's so retro however, it almost looks kind of sweet and innocent to me.

It's my latest acquisition.

It's going to be joined by an "A2" style AR-15 next week. :)

A bunch of news stories by unbelievably ill-informed newspaper writers lately has me just disgusted. They call AR-15s "high powered rifles" with stunning regularity.

You know, I've been thinking. I've got a fairly obsessive collector type personality. I have tons of collections, and I'll kind of migrate from one to the other, and obsess over one for a while, and then I'll get bored with that collection, and move to something else.

Is everyone else like this, or am I special? From the earliest time I can remember, I've been collecting things. Some of my collections:

Well, yesterday I had a vasectomy. My wife and I are both turning 39 this year, and we've had two kids more than we thought we'd ever have. We decided that we're definitely done.

So in about 2 months, she'll go off the pill, and we're done with birth control forever.

I feel a little bit of grief over having it done, but my two beautiful daughters are more than I could have ever asked for after we were told there was a less than 1% chance we'd ever conceive naturally. (Nyah nyah doctors.)

I'm gonna sell some guitar equipment, and buy one. Look out, I'm crazed!

There was a gun show this weekend.

It's a 1964 Old Model Ruger Single Six in .22 cal. The second cylinder is for .22 Magnum. It's very sweet, and I stole it at the price I paid.
